Buhle Wonder Mbambo

Buhle Wonder Mbambo is a South African, Durban based artist. He began his career by partaking in the BAT Center Artist in Residency (AIR) program and nowadays is internationally recognized as an artist.

 

Mbambo draws on issues surrounding family structures within the socio-political climate of South Africa and more specifically he focuses on his own family. His art acts as an exploration of family dynamics and the impact culture, politics and economics class structures have on a close group of individuals. He hopes to portray and "understand the challenges we are faced with as the youths of today and how to meditate through them in restoring unity and new dreams."- Buhle Wonder Mbambo

 

As an artist, Mbambo has exhibited internationally in countries such as Germany and Switzerland. Recently, he has had a solo at KZNSA gallery in Durban entitled 'Ukumisa Insika'(2018) and participated in the Johannesburg Art Fair (2018).
